SXSW AFTERMATH

..Better late than never, right?

It's been a little over month since SXSW has left all of us Austinites (transplants) behind and I feel as though I'm still trying to recover. Throughout the seven days of the seemingly forever-long festival, I worked 45+hrs on one of the loudest and busiest streets of the fest, received less than four hours of sleep each night, never got home earlier than 3:30am, and walked over 10.2 miles in two days. It hurts my legs and makes my brain turn to mush thinking about how many miles I walked total that week. Needless to say, my legs felt like jello and my eyes felt like raisins for two weeks straight once South By ended.

Despite my body nearly failing me and being extremely exhausted, I did have a lot of fun. I was able to see the bands I wanted to see, hang out with friends I don't see near enough, ate free food and drank free drinks, discovered new bands while soaking up the sun like a cat, and somehow only managed to spend $3 total. I, too, am impressed.

Though the week had thousands of bands and events to offer, I was only able to catch a few. My week consisted of my ears and eyes being blessed by Solange, Charli XCX, Master P, Wild Cub, Jim James, Cirque du Soleil, Beach Fossils, Polyphonic Spree, The Orwells, Foxygen, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Phosphorescent, The Rocketboys, The Wealthy West, and THE SPECIALS. Never in one hundred years would I have thought I'd have the chance to see The Specials! Despite my lack of exclamation marks, I was beyond excited.
